Interesting talk about footpegs .... funny, my wife complained about the shorter rear footpegs on our machine--not much margin for foot movement. On our '02 Savage the front pegs are an inch longer than the rears. I carefully scrutinized all four of the footrests and realized there might be a possibility of mounting the longer front pegs on the rear of the bike, since the forgings appeared very similar with a couple parts interchangeable. Though somewhat pricey, I took a chance and bought two new front pegs and rubber covers. Sizing up the situation I compared front and rear pegs, and with great care and patience, was able to grind the inner forged ends of the new front pegs to match the rears. Presto! Now the rear pegs are as long as the fronts. The only unforseen catch was rear shock clearance, but I was lucky--the pegs folded up and just cleared the rear shock springs.
